Wall Street Journal • USA Today • Publishers Weekly BestsellerDo you believe in the freedom of individuals to determine their own futures and solve problems cooperatively?Don't hurt people, and don't take their stuff. Simple and straightforward, that's liberty in a nutshell. And yet it seems that, more and more, the decisions CEOs and Washington bureaucrats make about what to do for us, or to us, or even against us, are having an increasingly adverse impact on our lives and freedoms. From Matt Kibbe, the influential leader of FreedomWorks, Don't Hurt People and Don't Take Their Stuff is the first true manifesto of a new libertarian grassroots movement, in which Kibbe clearly articulates the case for freer people, more voluntary cooperation, and solving problems from the bottom up.The rules for liberty Don't hurt people: Free people just want to be left alone, not hassled or harmed by someone else's agenda or designs on their life and property. Don't take people's stuff: America's founders fought to ensure property rights and our individual right to the fruits of our labors. Take responsibility: Liberty means responsibility. Don't sit around waiting for someone else to solve your problems. Work for it: For every action there is an equal reaction. Work hard and you'll be rewarded. Mind your own business: Free people live and let live. Fight the power: Take a stand against corrupt authority.

If you operate under the premise that either the Democratic or Republican Party represents the best interests of this country or its citizens, you probably shouldn't buy this book. As a libertarian myself, I'm often asked to explain my political philosophy in a short phrase, and I've generally gone with, "More Freedom, Less Government," but this book provides a more detailed approach that is also accessible. Those enamored with the power of the State will trash this book without having read it (see the 1 Star reviews), but it's actually a cogent argument for freedom and individualism as a solution to the problems our country is facing today. It is concise, well-written and engaging. Read it with an open mind and it will be a great use of your time.

Matt Kibbe has put the hundreds of volumes of rules, put together by politicians, into 8 words. "Don't hurt people and don't take their stuff". He is into the high tech era of smart phones and PC's as a means of wide communication. I'm still behind the curve. If we ever intend to slow down the political onrush to socialism and communism you had better read this book. He actually has some reasonable methods of defeating this madness. Kibbe has a solution. We need men and women in public office who understand the Constitution and wish to strictly adhere to it. Right now all of our politicians seem eager to embrace socialism. Socialism has failed in every country where its been tried. Yet each new politician believes it failed only because "he/she" wasn't in charge of it. Capitalism succeeds every time its tried. Obama is going to ensure that our country is equal to others. He means equally poor and miserable. He punishes success.Matt Kibbe offers a solution. So do a few other other authors. We must get back to our roots. Benjamin Franklin said it best. "We must hang together, or surely, we shall hang separately". We must be united American's to oust our entrenched politicians who are leading the country into chaos, and replace them with strict Constitutionalists. 545 people are responsible for every single problem this country faces, from Obamacare to obesity. The Congress, the Senate, the President and the Supreme Court. None of the rest of us have much of a say.

This is more of a collection of retrospective stories about how the authors habit of listening to Rush (the band) now fits into his political ideology than something you can chew mentally on. Pick up declaration of independents or anything by Nick Gillespie, Matt Welch or, of course, Ron Paul. I didn't expect Murray Rothbard depth but I am not sure who the audience Matt Kibbe was shooting for on this one. I offered it to a friend who was interested in the concepts before I read it myself.... but now I imagine it just confused him.

I actually didn't have too high expectations about this book but I was more than pleasantly surprised. "Don't Hurt People and Don't Take Their Stuff" is actually pretty good. A concise, eminently readable, straightforward Libertarian Manifesto with 6 simple "Rules for Liberty" - #1 Don't Hurt People, #2 Don't take people's stuff, #3 Take Responsibility, #4 Work for it, #5 Mind your own business, and #6 Fight the Power. This is not a work of deep philosophical thought but it nicely condenses a number of great works that are. I recommend it most especially to those who have not personally read Ayn Rand, Thomas Sowell, Adam Smith, F.A. Hayek, and Ludwig von Mises and are looking to acquire a basic understanding of libertarian philosophy.

Don't Hurt People and Don't Take Their Stuff by Matt Kibbe Matt Kibbe of Freedom Works presents both the need for a libertarian restoration of rationality in American and a collection of reforms that will go a long ways toward that restoration. Liberty of course will be at the crux of any reforms. The first part of the lively text contains a familiar recitation of the horrors of an over reaching government in the current administration and horrors that have been long in the making. You know what they are. At the heart of all of them is a government out of control even of its own advocates who sit in the offices of power in Washington D.C. How do I know the government is out of control of even those who are putatively in control of it? Because when ever some enormity comes to public light the agency head always has the same answer. “Gee I didn't know my subordinates were selling guns to narko-terriorists.” or “Gee I didn't know my subordinates were using the IRS to go after the political opponents of the President.” Mr. Kibbe does give us a list of 12 reforms that will go a long way to helping the current desperate situation. I regret that he does not give more concrete advise on how to accomplish his goal. His six principals however do give one hope to continue the struggle. Don't Hurt People. Don't take people's stuff. Take responsibility. Work for it. Mind your own business. And best of all Fight the Power. Libertarians, libertarians and those who want to understand that point of view will find Matt Kibbe a gleeful and informed guide.

If you want to know what libertarians think, without getting into the some of the contentious nerdy libertarian things like the finer points of the non-aggression principle, this is a great book to read. Libertarians actually hold a wide range of views on social issues, but are united in valuing liberty.

Matte came through once again. He wrote an easy to read and understand book. I met him once at a Freedom Works meeting and he is just one great person. The theory to the book is don't hurt others or take what is not yours. They are two steps to the golden rules. If we lived by those rules the world would be a better place and this pertains to the government also.

A pretty solid read.

This groundbreaking book goes beyond the general hepatitis C books, delving into the use of Eastern Medicine for hepatitis C and its treatment. This is an excellent resource for anyone interested in Eastern Medicine. A significant portion of this book could be used for hepatitis C patients who are interested in non-Western alternatives to manage treatment side effects, with the caveat that they use caution before taking any herbs, particularly if they use protease inhibitors. This book belongs on the shelf of anyone looking to expand their options for living with hepatitis C.

I'm a GI Nurse. Read a lot about Hep-C over the past 25yrs. This book is a great review for both health care professionals and patients alike. Very detailed, yet clear, easy to understand, very up to date. Dr.Robert Gish is a well know Hepatologist on the west coast, probably the leading one. Has the last word for Hepatitis care in California among local physicians. Patients come from all over the world to see him in his San Francisco clinic. And,... he's a really nice guy. Thanks for a great book!

Very user friendly. Good information, all in one book. All you need to know in order to take good care of yourself and a live good quality life without the commercial western killer medications during a period of such a delicate disease.

This is the most informative book we have found. I would urge anyone with liver damage from Hepatitis C to purchase this. Includes many alternative methods of treatment other than your typical "Doctor's" advice. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

This is a "must read" book for anyone with hepatitis C, especially those interested in complementing Western medical advice with more holistic approaches such as acupuncture and herbs. The first edition helped me when I was going through treatment for hepatitis C and this revised edition is even more helpful. I was given a very low chance of success in clearing the virus with interferon & ribavirin, but since I had cirrhosis I needed to try. I credit weekly acupuncture, herbs, meditation, and qigong/tai chi, and other suggestions in this book for my beating the odds, and getting rid of the hepatitis C virus and the cirrhosis. Well, you can read more about my story on [...] if you want. I'm really grateful to have gotten through treatment successfully. The Hepatitis C Help Book has info you don't find anywhere else. The explanations of how Eastern medicine can help people with liver problems are illuminating. Certainly take this book to your acupuncturist, but the recommendations of foods to eat or avoid for particular symptoms is invaluable for everyone, and there are also recipes worth trying. Getting advice from both the Western and Eastern perspective made me feel like I had some choices and that I was getting the best of both worlds. And there's advice on mood, sex, fuzzy thinking, aches & pains, why stress is harmful, how meditation helps, and lots of self-help advice. Unique things and up-to-date explanations of the basics. I'm teaching a course on Hepatitis now and I refer to this book, and recommend it to people who ask my advice on dealing with hepatitis C and other liver problems.

As someone who's had hepatitis C for 40 plus years (diagnosed about 10 years ago) and who went 35 years without health insurance, I've depended on alternative/complementary medicine a great deal.As I prepare to begin treatment with interferon/ribavirin, I find this book invaluable for the practical information that it provides, which I'm certain will better enable me to deal with the side effects of the treatment. The chapter and sections I find most helpful are those dealing with Western Medical Treatment options, Chinese Nutritional Therapy, Acupuncture, Qi Gong, and the section on the Integrated Treatment Program (especially the chapters dealing with digestive, fatigue, depression and pain issues, which I understand are common side effects.)Finally, the Resource Appendix will be a great help in enabling me to find current information about helplines, networking, educational materials, chat rooms, message boards, lectures and workshops, and financial assistance; all of this will be essential to my clearing the virus and healing.
