I discovered this book some decades ago when I was researching a college paper. It has some amazing insights about our own biology and anthropology and how we related to each other and the space around us in every day life. Remembering a book for 40 years and then jumping on it when I found it again, I have to give it five stars.

Essential reading for all interested in verbal and nonverbal communication, especially the latter, which, by most reliable research, consists of 80+ percent of human interactions.

This is a fascinating book which examines concepts such as territoriality, smell, touch, thermal heat in the context of space and how different cultures organize and interact with space. The author also examines how intercultural issues with space contribute to a lot of the conflicts that occur with people. Reading this book has presented me some new perspectives about space and how I interact with others in my own space, as well as ways to respect the space of other people better. Cultural space is explored in particular depth to show how even the living spaces of different culture varies due to how people in a given culture interact with space. Overall a very insight and revealing book about the relationship of space to how we live and interact.

Hall is a scholar and thoughtful author who writes in a style that anyone can follow. It is about our unconscious relationships to each other and the universe.

The firstgeneration, starting in the early 1980s, largely accepted standard finance'snotion of people's wants as "rational" wants - restricted to the utilitarianbenefits of high returns and low risk. Thesecond generation describes people as normal. This is an excellent book, well written and full of information and fresh insights for all investors and investment professionals. Several chapters struck special cords with me as president and CEO of Wealthfront, an automated investing service. Statman is one of our advisors.Chapter 9 emphasizes the benefits of automatic saving and investing so people can focus on the things that really matter to them. Chapter 7 addresses the cognitive and emotional obstacles to realizing losses despite their tax benefits, and the benefits of automating loss realization to maximize long-term investment returns.And Chapter 11 addresses market efficiency, emphasizing the dangers of jumping from observation that markets are not price-equal-value efficient to the conclusion that they are easy to beat. Statman writes: “Hard-to-beat markets are not impossible to beat. Investors with exclusively available information find it easy to beat the market, and investors with narrowly available information find it hard but not impossible to beat the market. Yet, on average, investors with nothing more than widely available information find it impossible to beat the market. Such investors are beaten by the market more often than they beat it. Indeed, investors with exclusively available and narrowly available information gain their market beating returns by emptying the pockets of investors who attempt to beat the market with widely available information alone.”

I wish Professor Statman had written this years ago. I understand the mathematics of investing and knew at some level that my psychological attitudes influenced the way I invested based on some of the more stupid mistakes I have made which we all make absent a crystal ball.The blending of Psychological factors with the mathematics is brilliant and well described, and his simple examples serve to well explain these factors.One of the Axioms from the Delphi Oracle back in the day was "know thyself" and this book will help you do that and become a better investor as opposed to just jumping on the latest hot trend.

The author, Dr. Meir Statman provides great insight into the subject of behavioral finance in this book, "Finance for Normal People: How Investors and Markets Behave". As I read this book I learned about the different characteristics and factors of behavioral finance. From part one of the book where readers gain an understanding of the the wants and constraints of normal investors, to part two where behavioral portfolio theory, behavioral life cycle theory, and behavioral asset pricing is explained--it is all is put together in a masterclass way to educate the reader on the topic of behavioral finance. My favorite aspect the text is that it comes with many real world examples to deliver the concepts to readers even without a strong background in finance. This makes it understand to follow and learn without any prior knowledge of the subject. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.Joe

This book is very interesting and helpful for finance student. Chapter 1 provides great explanation about Normal People. And all concepts are easy to understand. The ideas in this book and its analytical approach have inspired me, and I would recommend the book to anyone when it is published. Chapter 2 refers a lot of references and gives readers a perfect and professional experience. There is a logical order and clear relationship among all points. And I appreciate the author’s expression. Chapter 6 is well written and really clear. As a matter of fact, it is not the first time for me to know the Prospect theory.To my surprise, I still get some new point from this textbook. There are some excellent figures and analysis to give me deeper understanding. As a result, this book is well worth to read!

I know quite a few of the researchers that were involved in reverse engineering Stuxnet and Flame - so I was able to watch the story unfold with a behind the scenes view - what's presented in here is a very accurate, and insightful view of one of the most important security discoveries in recent years.Stuxnet, et. al. presented the security industry with a huge problem - and the implications are still being sorted out to this day. Government use of malware, and how the industry should handle it when discovered are topics that are still being debated on a daily basis. Kim does a great job on explaining the issues, and giving readers plenty to think about.From a technical perspective, the book goes into enough detail so that those of us familiar with the topic know exactly what is being discussed and it's implications, while not going overboard and overloading non-technical users with incomprehensible details. The book has a good narrative style, while covering technical detail and including details on the sources for information. Throughout the book are footnotes that list source information, additional notes that explain context, or provide additional details that don't fit in the narrative telling - I strongly suggest that you read the footnotes, as they offer very useful information.All in all, I strongly recommend the book, well worth it.

This book is an examination of Stuxnet and related tools such as Duqu and Flame. In that capacity it is detailed and exhaustive--perhaps to a fault. On the whole, however, the story is fascinating and Kim Zetter does a great job telling it.But more than just Stuxnet, the book examines the intersection of infrastructure and malware, and the growing military-cyber complex. This area of focus leads to perhaps the most interesting sections of the book. The chapter on vulnerabilities in US infrastructure is a real eye-opener.Either one of these topics would make the book a must-read for those interested or involved in security and cyber warfare. Having both of them together, marshaled by an excellent author, is a real treat.

This book is superbly researched and is written clearly and interestingly. It is quite outstanding in these two respects. To follow it, you will need to know a little bit about how computers and the internet work, but you don't need to know the technical parts. You do need to be a person who can cope with the technical terms and processes that are presented and described as you read along. Given that most readers will know how the story turned out, the author does a great job of maintaining the suspense of how the investigators (and the creators) did their work.Toward the end I found it a little less interesting, but that was o.k. I had learned so much more than I set out to learn.The Kindle version is very well implemented. You can check a footnote or a definition and go back to the text.I am going to repeat myself and say that this book is a model of both research and of technical writing.

This book opens up the secretive world of Cyber War. What surprised me what the level of investigation and research done by the author. The writer provides in-depth and detailed description of the investigation that exposed the Stuxnet, its inner working as well as its creator. The story is fascinating and offers many previously unknown and unpublished details that likely to shock most readers. This is truly a ground breaking work on Cyber Warfare. If there is a criticism, it is the length and sometimes unnecessary details. A little editing and pruning would have helped, especially to non-technical readers. However on the whole, this is a wonderful book that I would strongly recommend to all those interested understanding how Cyber Warfare is waged.

I really liked this read. A few months ago, I got interested in all of what went down with the Stuxnet virus and was looking for something that would explain the events surrounding it and how it worked. This book did a great job in both capacities. It was entertaining and quite informative not only about the virus itself but also the culture of exploits seekers (think: those who try to find vulnerabilities in software). It also went into detail about the history of attacks on industrial machinery and the hypothetical concerns that are present in the future of this threat given the current infrastructure in place and what's being done on a public level to mitigate the risks. I'd recommend it for anyone that wants a thorough investigation and an interesting look at the culture involved in finding, exploiting and thwarting vulnerabilities on a worldwide scale.

I remembered my days in the late 80's when on my free time I deciphered the first viruses, built disassemblers and my own anti-virus, and shared it freely with the local community. Then, with polymorphics, the problem became too complex and time-intensive, I had to let it down just when the first commercial solutions became available. Kim Zetter wrote a beautiful book accompanying step by step the discovery and analysis of the largest (up today) computer virus. I understood that a large part was built with compilers and not handcrafted by vicious assembly language programmers: the disassembly could have been a lot more nightmarish. Stuxnet was the first computer weapon, we will see more of them in the future. The platform on which it thrives is no more adequate for serious work. Way too complex to be understood and above all to control anything. Advice to the military and really conscious process control builders: if you cannot decompile the whole system (Operating System included) and match it with the nicely commented source code, you are doomed.This book will win a honor place alongside Tracy Kidder's "The Soul of a New Machine" on my bookshelf.

Pretty good, but some odd background vocal that were sometimes way too loud.

Music book was incomplete. Book ended at page 44 in middle of song and missing last song starting at page 46. Receiving an incomplete music book is unacceptable as I paid for the complete book

The book is terrific, it arrived quickly and in great shape. The content is easy to follow, Eva's songs are so beautiful, I will be studying and practicing these for a long time.

Her tomato and mustard tart recipe reminds me of summers in Southern France with my grandparents, and her apple tart one of picnics with family and friends. Grab her book, a nice bottle of wine, and whatever you end up cooking make sure to share it around the table with loved ones. And, VOILA!

I love the easy, encouraging style of Cécile Delarue’s writing. You have the sense that she is right there in the kitchen cooking with you and cheering along your work. As promised, the recipes are simple and effortless – definitely French comfort food in many instances.It is often difficult to source the ingredients here in the US that are found in French cookbooks. However, Delarue is a French expat living, cooking and sourcing her food here in the US so the recipes do not contain a range of ingredients that can’t be found in the stores.Delarue has also labeled the recipes as classic, vegan, vegetarian, dairy free, under 30 minutes, etc which I think this will be quite helpful to a variety of readers. Plus she gives you wine pairings!The French Cooking Class and French Basics chapters had me anxious to plan this week’s menu and get started cooking!

So to start I will say, I have made a few recipes from this book and they were truly delicious.However, this is not really what I would call effortless, nor have I found much yet for week night cooking main meals. Some recipes do call for a few ingredients. No dish is too out of control. I read over the cassoulet recipe and while i know it's not easy I rolled my eyes away the mention of 3 pans. Of course I'll still have to try to make it one day. But I wouldn't call it effortless.Some recipes call for hard to get ingredients. One holiday recipe calls for 1lb of chestnuts. It is a pain to roast or boil and peel a lb of chestnuts so I get irked when I see it as a casual ingredient. Also some of her instructions ate vague. Like: stuff the chicken with lemon. The ingredient list just says lemon. If I was dumb and young I could maybe see myself stupidly putting a whole lemon in (ok maybe young me wouldn't be that dumb). Another recipe says fill a pot with water and add meat. Doesn't say how big a pot or how much water. It just bugs me. I can use common sense bird it's definitely for cooks with more experience. If you have little cooking experience don't get this book or prepared to be a bit nervous filling up the pot.If you know how to cook, it's great

Beautiful cookbook!!!! I follow both Cécile's Facebook and Instagram page and was absolutely thrilled to see she had a cookbook coming out!!! As soon as it arrived I opened it up and began flipping through the pages trying to decide which recipe I was going to make first! I found myself incredibly excited that all these recipes from her upbringing we're translated into recipes we could make from ingredients accessible here in the US and that they were still French approved!I love how the book is broken up, starting with "French Cooking Class" and moving on to "French Basics"!Each recipe lists if it is Gluten free, Dairy free, Under 30 minutes, Vegetarian, etc and also has a little "story", explanation or history of the recipe!I love the addition of the "Le Petit Truc" at the bottom of each recipe!The photograpy is beautiful! Takes me right back to France!I am very pleased with this cookbook, it is simple for us to follow, elegant, classically French and has a little bit of everything!Merci beaucoup Cécile!!!

I bought this book because I wanted a resource for no-fuss French fare, the sort of thing I can easily incorporate into my daily routine. Cecile's recipes were exactly what I was looking for! They are so simple and easy to follow, yet at the same time healthy and elegant. I have already made her pot au feu, which was easy to do and the whole family loved it. The real showstopper so far was her recipe for chocolate mousse - to die for! It was so easy to make with ingredients that I already had to hand, but even better my guests were literally moaning in enjoyment after every bite. I can't wait to try more of her recipes. Great for busy cooks that still like to experiment and try new things. Also great for us working moms. Bravo Cecile!

My second cookbook purchase by author Cécile Delarue. Recipes are easy to plan and simple to make. The arrival of the cookbook coincided with the release of French style yogurt cups (5 oz - 2/3 cup) in the US. Looking forward to making a traditional Gâteau au yaourt (Yogurt cake page 204) using a glass French yogurt cup.

Elegant enough for dinner with friends but so simple too! And the taste is AMAZING! I enjoy the stories throughout the cookbook too. Cecile has made me love her even more 💖

I love this cookbook. I buy lots of cookbooks and try new recipes all the time. And this has become my favorite! It is French food, but healthy! And easy to prepare. It also lists which recipes are gluten free. I just LOVE this book and will probably buy copies for friends as gifts, I love it that much!
