There is so much about this book to recommend. There are marvelous photographs that one will want to look at again and again. Regions of star formation, gaseous clouds where stars are formed. There are photographs of spiral galaxies and other types of galaxies. The Hubble telescope can see 90 percent of the way outward and backward in time to the big bang itself. Photographs of exploding supernova fragments, The book describes Cepheid variable stars used to calibrated distances. Other star types are described and shown - red and blue supergiant stars and regions where astronomers are fairly certain there are white dwarf stars and in another region a neutron star can be found ( page 184 , remnant of supernova explosion in Large Magellanic cloud) . All the photographs are catalogued with what they are, where they are located and the distance from Earth. One can learn a lot from reading this book. There is also the history of the telescope, of how it has been serviced and photographs of the space telescope in orbit and being serviced by various astronauts including astronaut John Grunsfeld. The story of how things went wrong and the tenacity to get things right adds a more human touch to the story. The book describes how thanks to the Hubble space telescope our view of the universe we live in has been enriched enormously.

What I don't appreciate in a book this size is a dozen artist impressions when there are millions of real Hubble images. Lots of history, news coverage and biography, and only grade school science. Its like a very large National Geographic magazine special, which is exactly what it is, I guess.

I gave this to my nephew for Christmas. He's at an age where he's too cool to think anything is cool, so it's hard to tell what he thought of it. I thought it was great; lots of pictures, well written. I only wish it had more (or better) wide-view shots of the deep field. I was hoping for something that would really give you an idea of how small our galaxy is out there with everything else (we had a Hubble deep field poster in one of my college astronomy classes that did just that, and it was awesome).

An absolutely beautiful book of the pictures taken by the Hubble telescope.One of the best books I've purchased in years.Really enjoyed it.

Fantastic book with great pictures and very informative text on the history of Hubble and its role in science. I've given 4 stars because I personally wish it had more of Hubble pictures. That aside, the pictures it does have are beautiful and the information it gives about Hubble makes it well worth it.

There is nothing to dislike about this National Geographic publication. It is a great value for so little money.

Beautiful book. I bought it as a gift and was not embarrassed to give it.

There's something about romantic comedies which, despite many of them having predictable endings, really fulfills all my desires for a story in one go. 13 Dates is one of those tales which involves a kooky theory about the rules of love, some delightful supporting characters (I loved the character of Mary and imagined her as actress June Squibb for some reason), and a sizable emotional hurdle. These elements and more check off the required boxes for me to fully enjoy this relatively short read. I love the way Matt Dunn writes dialogue. It's very cute and offbeat but in a way that's not annoying.I wasn't super into either of the main characters at the beginning. Noah seemed a little like a doormat while Angel initially fit a "manic pixie dream girl" stereotype (the cool girl who wears retro band t-shirts and Converse). However, once I particularly learned more about Angel's backstory and the lengths Noah goes to make Angel feel special and appreciated, I too fell in love with these characters. Every person deserves a Noah in their lives.I would definitely recommend 13 Dates to anyone who loves chick-lit and/or romance. This is definitely the perfect book to read on a rainy day with a mug of hot chocolate or tea.I received this book through a Goodreads giveaway. This is the first book I've read from this author and it definitely won't be my last! I found Matt's writing style to be refreshing, intelligent and quirky; just like Noah!Noah had been looking for love without much luck. Then Angel fell into his life, and while, it seemed, he stood no chance with the upbeat, unpredictable, beautiful woman, he was determined to get her to fall in love with him, no matter the cost. His self-dignity took more than a couple of hits in this upbeat romantic comedy, but even though he didn't feel worthy, suffered extreme self-doubt and was constantly second-guessing everything, he persevered, because 'when you know, you know.' His antics were that of a bumbling idiot at times, his mind going off on a tangent, and I found that so damned endearing. The fact that he made mistakes, said the wrong things and made a fool of himself in the name of love made him an unforgettable character.The rambling and quirky dialogue in this book was extremely entertaining and though it was laugh-out-loud funny at times, this story was also a sad reminder that you should always live each day to its fullest and pursue your dreams.

Noah meets Angel in line at the local coffee shop while on his way to a blind date. Noah is smitten with Angel and can't get her out of his mind. Convinced by his friend Marlon, that if he is serious about this girl that it will only take 13 dates for her to fall in love with him. Noah sets off on finding Angel.When taking his landlady to the hospital for a broken arm, he sees Angel leaving the hospital. He follows Angel to her place of business. He now has a way of contacting her again! Angel, however, does not do anything average. She tells Noah that she will go out with him, but only if they do something she hasn't done before.Noah is convinced that this is the girl for him. Angel, on the other hand, doesn't do relationships. She lives for the moment. Noah thinks if he can get Angel to go on 13 dates with him, that she will see she loves him. But Angel is keeping a secret from Noah. The road to 13 dates is hilarious and charming.

Very seldom do I write a review, but this one deserves it. Quick, quick-witted. Clever. Fun. With most books I find myself skimming along because all of the pointless descriptions or other drivel. With this book that would be akin to riding a motorcycle down the middle of a speeding train. You are going to miss the scenery 100%. This is one time I got to sit back and thoroughly enjoy the scenery at a pretty fast pace. It was a tightly-written book that kept my interest. The 4 stars instead of 5 is because I'm still not sure about some details at the end. I will look for other books by Dunn

The synopsis was very intriguing. Noah and Angel are two opposites that meet in a coffee shop. Noah is attracted from the start. Angel--not so much. Noah is encouraged to pursue 13 dates with a woman in order to determine if a future is possible. Noah learns to avoid the traditional kind of dates. His efforts are off-the-wall, embarrassing, and endearing at the same time. I wish I had a "Noah" in my life!!!

The hero in this story has a low self esteem, a penchant for bad jokes and a repressive view of life. He has been in and out of several relationships which never seem to work out. He is 35 and wants love, marriage and a family in the worst way.On his way to a blind date, he stops at a Starbucks and he meets Angel.This is a funny, sweet and sometimes bittersweet tale of two incompatible people on their way to 13 dates.

I found Matt Dunn's 13 dates utterly charming! There were a couple of places where I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes. One scene in particular, after their horseback riding date, where things . . . progress to the bedroom . . . OMG, so funny. Noah and Angel were such endearing characters, and the secondary characters added another delightful dimension. Now I'm reading "Home," also by M. Dunn.

I loved this book. The characters were lovable and well developed. The story was sweet and funny and unpredictable. I am a big fan of Matt Dunn and I look forward to his next book.

This is a good quick read if you don't have much experience texting or you feel like your texts to men haven't been as effective as you'd like. It offers suggestions for every stage of a relationship, from flirting with someone you've just met through enticing someone you're dating to sustaining interest in a long-term relationship.I didn't agree with every suggestion, but I appreciated the friendly tone and liked some of the tips. The author does a nice job explaining the masculine mindset and how men tend to react to different types of texts so you can avoid common mistakes. Bullet points offer specific (generally playful) examples of the types of texts he recommends for different situations.

Great no-nonsense guide that came with the option to download other books for free! I used the author's suggestions to get a shy guy to come out of his shell. It took less than a week to get a date and a passionate kiss. Of course he already 'liked' me to begin with, but now we are inseparable thanks to Eric Monroe's guide which emboldened me to send that first text!

A decent book. Most of the tips are pretty common sense, and the making him wait is total game playing unless you truly were busy, didn't come up with a good response yet (all if us do THIS, obsess about texting just the right comeback), etc. I mean, it does work though, if your reasons aren't solely just to manage a man's emotions. If you're truly going out with friends, yes awesome, convey the interesting life you have, but not solely doing it because of the guy you want.This was free and I was curious. It's a decent sized book. BUT it should have included texts with exes, how to get out of the friend zone and given more ideas on the most common responses.I miss the days before texts, when we could just be ourselves.

This book really answered some big questions for me and provided lots of example texts to adjust and use. Just be careful to not get too caught up in your head about what you should or should not say. Once I started reading it and thinking about the advice through me and my situation it became easier to use the ideas and very helpful. This book is straightforward and to the point, and every point is simple and effective. I 100% recommend this book if you want to learn how to text a man.

Up-, on- and cross-selling containers is not a way to extract more sales, but a way to get the customer more organized so he can lead a happier life. Purpose-driven salespeople outperform the target driven type across all product groups.I have emphasised this principle of higher purpose because in my experience with a wide variety of companies in 14 countries, it is the one that seems to “get lost” over time. Often, the founders of the firm where driven by a higher purpose, but without a constant reminders, in a wide variety of ways, (bringing patients to the party or telling stories,) their initial purpose fades or is ambushed by slumps or the race to meet payroll.It is well worth revisiting the issue of your business’ higher purpose if for no other reason than its economic value.“Stakeholder integration,” another Conscious Capitalism principle, is a philosophical issue with profound practical consequences.The stakeholders in any business are the shareholders, the staff, suppliers, the customers or clients, and the community in which the business operates. The common view of stakeholder groups is as a zero-sum game. I had high hopes for this after reading the intro and the first couple of chapters. It is a concept that is near and dear to me. The author's thoughts on Purpose and Stakeholders are excellent. Unfortunately, it becomes a little preachy around diets and other topics that could have been avoided. It also lacks some of the practical application I was seeking. Finally, this could have been about 100 pages shorter.

Read with considerable interest, from beginning to end, in the wake of Amazon's acquisition of Whole Foods. How value is shared amongst stakeholders is discussed, yet no magic formula exists. I purchased the full color version of this book from Tim Blight's website. I had not heard of Tim Blight until a few days ago when I read his column in the Dawn newspaper. I was very impressed with the amount of research he had conducted in that particular column about Sialkot, a city in Pakistan that most foreigners do not even bother visiting. Tim was able to find hidden gems even in such a mediocre city. Once I read his other columns I became his fan. Tim's guide book puts Lonely Planet or other guide books about Pakistan to shame, its mostly because those books or their writers have a bias, don't bother to research, visit or update and don't really think much of the country. Tim Blight genuinely loves the country and the quality of his research clearly shows in this book. In a nutshell, Pakistan as a country is not missing out not having ample foreign tourists, its the foreign tourists who are missing out not visiting Pakistan by traveling to other countries half as attractive and paying ten times as much. Tim's message to those is do not listen to your biased media, do your own research/ word of mouth. Tim's book is a great tool moving forward in this direction.

There are not many current guidebooks for Pakistan, and the Lonely Planet is thirteen years out of date. Which is a shame as the country is a fascinating place to visit.'Pakistan Traveller' is clearly the most comprehensive guide to the country available today. Some of the Afghan border areas are not covered (but then again they should not be on your travel plans at this time) but the most popular areas are covered in detail. Tim's love of the country comes through clearly in his writing, while the up-to-date information on food, accommodation, and sights is vital for any traveller to this incredible country.The Karakorum Highway is particularly covered in great detail, and if you are planning on one of the more unusual road trips in the world on the KKR you should not leave home without it. Five Stars.

This guide is everything a traveler might need for visiting Pakistan. It's incredibly comprehensive compared to other information available on the internet, and more importantly, is far more up-to-date than any other published guides out there.

This is a very well-written and neutral history of the oil and gas industry worldwide, from its beginnings in the U.S. in the 1850s up through the end of the Gulf War in 1991. I read this over perhaps eight months a couple years ago, having had been in the industry for about 18 years. I wish I'd read it when I first started working; I think my appreciation of my particular engineering field and its place in the context of the industry would've been greatly enhanced.The Prize doubles as both an extremely interesting story and a superb reference thanks to a comprehensive index. My only complaint is that the regional maps are generally sub-par and often don't indicate half the points of interest mentioned in the text. This is merely an annoyance though and doesn't detract much from the experience.I don't have much else to add. The Prize is written for the layman, so anyone with even a passing interest in the industry ought to check it out. I'm most of the way through the sequel The Quest, which covers the next twenty years or so of history though in quite a different manner and with generally poorer writing in my opinion. The Prize is a must buy!

This one book has helped me view current events from a much more sophisticated perspective than before. Although oil is the connective tissue throughout, I learned immensely about World history, human psychology, war, the Middle East, imperialism, colonialism, and so many thing in between (e.g., 42 Gallons in a barrel of crude!). Without a hint of exageration, I learned more from this book than any other I can recall (less The Bible, and maybe The Brothers Karamazov which I just started reading!). It took me ONE YEAR to get it read (not sure why), but I committed to finishing it before starting any other read, and that I did. I am immensely thankful to the author for putting this massive piece together - truly a feat, if you ask me. What will come once this infamous resource evolves (or comes to an end)? A couple of centuries and so much.... everything. Phenomenal read, highly recommended!!!

The course was a hybrid undergraduate/graduate course, and one of the differentiators was that the graduate students had to read The Prize and write a paper on it.This book is a must-read for anyone who wants to understand the oil industry, its history, its geopolitics, and how oil has shaped policy and war for the past 100+ years.

Each chapter balances real-life stories with practical advice. Sheryl does a great job of sharing relevant stories of Moms navigating parenting challenges, based on the chapter titles. These stories bring great humanity to this book, along with an opportunity for an emotional connection to the chapter's subject. Wonderfully, Sheryl doesn't stop with stories. She brings in several action items for you to consider in each chapter. I found her advice to be immensely practical and applicable.3. Dads, Grandparents, and friends of Moms should read this book too. While this book is clearly written for Moms, I think that Dads should read this book because so much of it is relevant to us as parents too. I also think it is important for Moms and Dads to be aligned on parenting strategies. And many Dads are in the primary parenting role while many Moms are in the primary breadwinner role, so "Daddy Burnout" is possible too. Additionally, I do think Grandparents and friends of Moms should read this book because you all can be so helpful in reducing parenting stress and preventing burnout. Basically, if you're an adult, read this book. :)4. Sheryl invested 7 years of her time in writing this book, and it shows. In the introduction chapter Sheryl shares how this book ultimately took her 7 years to write. This was because she was working as a therapist and raising three kids with her husband. I do think this book is all the better because it was created over time and not cranked out quickly. Sheryl's experience in therapy and as a Mom over time helped craft this into a great book.5. This book is incredibly affordable therapy. Sheryl makes a great point in her concluding chapter that therapy or medicine may be needed for some parents in the midst of burnout, but community is needed for all parents. I agree that we are stronger together. That said, I think you could spend hundreds of dollars in therapy getting the wisdom that is imparted in this book. (Please note that I do encourage you to get therapy if it is needed. No book can help you navigate the nuances of your specific situation. A therapist can.) Bottom line: this book is worth the investment of your money to buy it and your time to read it.

I read this so quickly! It’s a great book but doesn’t really help in ways I expected. Just had stories about other people. Should have had more about how to deal with certain problems and “mommy burnout”. It was an easy read though.

I loved this book so much I ordered another copy of it for a mommy friend from my sons school. Our kids go to preschool together and were both stay at home moms. I'm excited to give it to her on Tuesday through passing. If I had the money I would order four more and give them to other women I know who struggle with mommy burnout, heck I'd probably order six and put two in my little free library. Buy the book, you want regret it! It sure taps into your inner feeling about being a mom and a wife.

Amazing content and advice! This book is the perfect sounding board for every day challenges moms are facing with great insights from Dr. Ziegler who is both a family therapist and a mom. Recommending Mommy Burnout to all of my friends!

The BEST book for any mom struggling with the ups and downs of parenting and dealing with the relationship strain that sometimes goes along with that.

Very good read. So many applicable things to where I am now and good to look at other perspective of mommy burnout. It has helped me refocus and have less mommy stress/fatigue.
